An introduction to goats for the beginner:- The course is taught by a goatkeeper of over 40 years experience who has adult teaching certificates at basic and advanced levels includes:- What constitutes a 'good goat' and what to look for in a goat. Lots of practical work, such as , how to behave around goats, handling goats, drenching, vaccinating, injecting, using pour-ons, hoof trimming, milking, grooming, housing, and fencing. as well as an introduction to the various breeds of goats and their uses. Theories of breeding pedigree stock. legal requirements and government paperwork. The course also includes a free copy of 'Goatkeeping without the nonsense' and free entry to the farm. The course is mainly practical work with lots of 'hands on' experience. Bring a packed lunch, wear stout shoes and outdoor clothing, tea or coffee are provided.
